De Poort

The training center of YWAM Amsterdam is called ‘De Poort’, which is Dutch for ‘The Gateway’. This 150-year-old building provides classrooms and housing for the different schools we run, office space for many of our ministries and housing for staff.  We are blessed by having plently of space to host visiting teams, guests or the odd traveler who passes through our doors.  The building was purchased by YWAM Amsterdam in 1985.

Samaritan’s Inn

This historic building is one of the first things visitors arriving at Amsterdam’s Central Station see upon exiting the station. The lighted sign ‘JESUS LOVES YOU’, located at the top of the building, serves to declare this simple truth to all who visit or live in the city. In Dutch it reads “GOD ROEPT U” which means “God is calling you.”  Samaritan’s Inn hosts an art café, Dwaze Zaken, a Christian book store, Pelgrim City Bookstore, and housing for YWAM staff.  The building was purchased by YWAM Amsterdam in 1980.

The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse is located in Amsterdam’s Red Light District and was previously home to the Cleft ministry which operated for 30 years out of YWAM Amsterdam.  The Lighthouse is a YWAM community center where at the core is a desire to see spiritual wholeness and freedom for those involved in the sex industry. Their secondary goal is to impart God’s heart for individuals trapped in or choosing this work, by mobilizing, connecting and training believers to stand against the powers of injustice.  The building was purchased by YWAM Amsterdam in 1978.

Tabernacle of the Nations

The Tabernacle is a house of 24/7 prayer and worship in the heart of Amsterdam’s Red Light District and located directly beside the Lighthouse.  The Tabernacle of the Nations is a gift to the city and the body of Christ, and will encourage unity among the churches in Amsterdam.  It hosts a prayer room and offices for the ministry and housing for YWAM staff.  The building was purchased by YWAM Amsterdam in 2004.
